The Newport String Project (a chamber music performance and youth mentoring initiative) invites applications for the newly created position of Managing Director. The successful applicant will be a professional administrator who has experience working within donor-centric nonprofits, including donor cultivation, solicitation, and acknowledgement processes. Additionally, managing finances, supporting staff of professional musicians, coordinating communications, and providing support for public events, along with coordinating our volunteers, are all important aspects of the job. A feature of this position is a flexible schedule that ebbs and flows in accordance with program activities, closely following the academic year. The position requires variable number of weekly hours between September and June, provides added flexibility over the summer, and necessitates occasional weekend and evening hours at our concerts and events in and around Newport. In the first iteration of this new position, it is anticipated that the annual salary will be in the vicinity of $50,000, depending on candidate qualifications.
