The Newport Music Festival (NMF) celebrated its highly successful 50th Anniversary in 2018. Since its launch in 1969, NMF has played a significant role in the cultural life of Rhode Island. Over the years, the Festival has produced more than 2,000 classical chamber music concerts in many of the Preservation Society of Newport County’s renowned historic mansions and in various venues throughout Newport. NMF has presented more than 1,000 artists, including 130 American debuts of artists who have gone on to make musical history.
The Director of Development & Events will play a key role in executing Newport Music Festival’s institutional strategy to increase contributed income and strengthen its philanthropic base. Reporting to and working closely with the Executive Director, the Director of Development & Events (DD&E) will supervise the Development Associate, support the efforts of the Stewardship Committee of the Board, and serve as liaison to an active volunteer association. The DD&E will also interact with NMF’s Development Consultant while transitioning and becoming fully established in their new role. The DD&E will participate in devising and implementing systems and strategies to build NMF’s development program, with a focus on growing the individual giving and stewardship programs.
