Esperanza-Hope Free Bilingual Acrylic Art Program $1,120 Esperanza-Hope will hold its 4th Free Five Week Bilingual Art Program for children ages 7-16 in Providence, October-November 2019. Grace Church in Providence (Collegium Ancora) Mass for the Unarmed Child $1,620 Collegium Ancora plans to commission and perform “Mass for the Unarmed Child”, written by Michael Bussewitz-Quarm and Adrian Dunn in response to the ongoing gun violence against children. Oasis International African Summer Bash $2,250 Oasis International will celebrate its 26th African Summer Bash this year. The Bash celebrates the cultural richness of African and other diverse ethnic groups in Southwest Providence – including the Cape Verdean community – through music, dance, food, and the arts. RI Cape Verdean Heritage Subcommittee Cape Verdean Independence Day Festival $3,000 RICVHC plans to hold an annual Cape Verdean Independence Day Festival in commemoration of Cape Verde's independence. The festival will be held on July 7th, 2019, at India Point Park in Providence, Rhode Island. Salve Regina University (Newport County Youth Chorus) Newport County Youth Chorus $2,250 Newport County Youth Chorus offers free/low-cost weekly after-school programs for students in grades 2 – 6 in Newport and Portsmouth, each culminating in a performance. Participants are led by professional musicians and educators with a combined total of over 25 years of experience as well as emerging leaders from local high schools and colleges. The Autism Project In Harmony $3,000 In Harmony – The Autism Project (TAP) and The RI Philharmonic Orchestra Music School (RIPOMS) will provide a school year of weekly music education to 15-20 youth with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, with a year-end public performance. Warwick Center for the Arts Meaningful Art Experiences for Individuals with Disabilities $720 Warwick Center for the Arts (WCFA) will provide art programs for clients for individuals with disabilities from Spurwink, RI, whose programming assists them in pursuing social, educational, vocational, and life enhancing opportunities. What Cheer Flower Farm Art in the Fields $1,620 What Cheer Flower Farm, an urban farm which grows and donates 30,000 flowers to charity, is launching an annual Art in the Fields summer program to invite diverse groups in the community to experience creating art. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center Community Works $1,680 The Art Program at MLKCC will be inspired by the nearby Community Gardens and by Narragansett Bay. Artwork inspired by the garden will be exhibited in the entrance to the Community Food Pantry and the Community Room. Afro-Carribbean Drumming $4,000 Afro-Caribbean drumming engages young people ages 8 to 18 years from low income communities to develop skills for making music through folk drumming and other percussion in collaboration with Providence Elementary Schools and other after school programs at two locations. School One Intergenerational Arts Program $3,000 Intergenerational Arts Program brings together high school students and adults aged 65 and over to explore their creativity, learn theater skills, develop their powers of expression, and forge relationships across the generations. Smart Test, Inc. Hip Hop Science $2,900 Smart Test plans to continue to provide two 8-week in-school Hip Hop Science programs at Pleasant View, in which students will learn basic scientific concepts of motion and apply Newton's Laws of Motion and Gravitation to the Hip Hop genre, using their bodies to show concrete examples of scientific laws. South Kingstown CARES, Inc. Knowing Home : All School Play $1,620 "Knowing Home" is a multi-arts theater production that would involve upwards of 200 elementary school students and 50 adults. South Kingstown School Department/ Wakefield Elementary School The Great Quest – A Medieval Tale for Modern Times $1,620 The play, open to all school community members, tells the tale of a divided land where a dragon sows mistrust between two feuding kingdoms. As fear festers into hatred, war becomes imminent, until a wise wizard devises a plan to undo the dragon’s fear mongering and bring peace to the land. 200+ students will participate in telling this epic story. Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts Intensive Arts Residency for Pushed Learning and Media Dance and Video Arists $5,000 We are proposing an intensive arts residency for Pushed Learning and Media teaching artists Oliver Arias and Eric Axelman for the 2019-2020 school year. PACE Intergenerational Mural outside PACE Woonsocket $2,500 The PACE Org of RI and Riverzedge Arts are looking to complete a mural project to be painted on a concrete wall that is visible from the day center windows of PACE's northern Rhode Island location. Peyman Farzinpour ENSEMBLE PARALLAX 2019 Multimedia Performance $1,700 Renowned mezzo-soprano Kathleen Roland joins ENSEMBLE / PARALLAX in a program cosponsored by Syracuse University and the Italian Cultural Institute, featuring compositions by Stanford professor, Patricia Alessandrini, and Italian composer Salvatore Sciarrino. Patti McAlpine Galway Kinnell Poetry Festival $500 This is a festival of workshops and readings held in Pawtucket paying homage to Pawtucket's poet, Galway Kinnell. The event is held in conjunction with the Pawtucket Arts Festival. The festival will be held the weekend of September 27, 2019. Jonathan Guzman Queer Ofrenda Altar $500 As a queer Chicano artist, I find visibility of both of my cultures to be lacking in Providence at times. In order to celebrate both my Mexican heritage and my Queer culture in Providence, I will be making a queer ofrenda altar that will celebrate those that have passed on Dia De Los Muertos. David Henry Festival of Solo Dances and Dance Films $2,000 "Kicking & Screening" will be a weekend of solo dance performances, dance films, and creative workshops, taking place in Providence, Spring 2020. Heather Caunt-Nulton The Henna Crown Project $1,000 Henna artist Heather Caunt-Nulton will provide henna art crowns to chemotherapy patients, at no cost to them.

Jennifer Cahoon Portraits of a City $1,000 Jennifer Gillooly Cahoon will poll the people of East Providence to identify three individuals of varied ethnic backgrounds who have had a positive impact on the community. Subjects will be painted by the artist and when finished, the art will be gifted to the city and hung in city hall.
