Artist Initiated Skill Share

NOTE: This grant is temporarily closed for the foreseeable future.

The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts will be establishing a bi-monthly series of artist initiated programming, starting as a pilot program in FY2019. Artists will work alone or with other Rhode Island artists to create a one time event focused on supporting other Rhode Island based artists and building artist community, particularly emerging and young artists. Interested artists will be asked to submit a short proposal outlining their idea, which can include, but not be limited to, curating; creating a workshop; developing a critique session; training; and/or mentorship. RISCA will provide logistical support, marketing, and space, as well as training and guidance in leading events/facilitating workshops. This is intentionally open ended, as each artist has very different skills and interests, and will have ideas about how to support and build the RI artist community.

Budget: $200 per artist initiator; $150 for materials/supplies/snacks/space/etc. per event. This can be flexible as determined on a case by case basis.

Request for Proposals:

The application is through our online grant management system. You will be asked to submit a 1-2 paragraph description of your idea, along with a rough estimate of expenses. This description should include the format of the event, the learning/community building goals, and who your intended audience is. You will also submit resumes or bios of artist initiators (with website, if applicable/available) and a date range you would be comfortable with (e.g. Sometime in October). Please visit https://www.grantinterface.com/Home/Logon?urlkey=artsrischolarship to submit an application.

Deadline:

These proposals will be evaluated on a rolling basis. RISCA hopes to support up to six of these Artist Initiated Skill Share programs between September 1, 2019 and June 30, 2020.
