FBP will teach students about the power of their own writing and movement as vehicles to express themselves using movement awareness, expression, communication and confidence. Allison Bianco Rhode Island's Largest Printing Press 1500 AS220 Community Printshop in Providence, RI houses the largest printing press in Rhode Island. Allison Bianco will create a monumental etching on this press, working with local artist Lois Harada. The AS220 Community Printshop will host an open studio for the AS220 Youth Alumni and public studio hours. Cade Tompkins Projects will exhibit the final print at a public reception in June. Barrington Recreation Department Barrington Arts Festival 2000 The Town of Barrington will provide artists of all disciplines with a venue for exhibiting and performing their creativity on the Barrington Government Center lawn. Belinda Phivilay face(s) of PVD 1000 This is a collection of street photography and portraits of black and brown individuals from different backgrounds who help sustain Providence. The purpose of this project is to build community by creating safe spaces and to acknowledge how much of an asset we are regardless of experience. Benjamin Lundberg Torres Sánchez Se Aculilló? | Primxs 2250 "Se Aculilló? | Primxs," the 4th exhibition in the Se Aculilló? series, will feature art created by people who have origins, ancestral roots, and/or cultural ties to geographies colonized by the former Spanish Empire, selected via open call with strong consideration for Black artists, Indigenous artists, LGBTQAI artists, and artists who have been marginalized from traditional presentations of art. Cathren Housley Fantasy Board Game Workshop 2345 In this 5 week workshop, kids will design their own board game, make game accessories, and write their own rule book. Award winning multidisciplinary artist Cathren Housley supplies materials personalized to each group's imagination and aim. Kids have the opportunity to combine writing skills, design, sculpture, and drawing to produce a board game that becomes part of the library collection. Christopher Johnson New and Dangerous Tv 2500 Docu-theater where scripts are created from stories, poems, and submissions from marginalized voices (high school students) in the RI/New England community at large. Gerald Shippe Draw Your World 500 "Draw Your World" is a 24 page drawing instruction book for students aged 9-15. It will provide directed lessons on how to draw 5 subjects utilizing different methods, allowing students to select the method that works for them best. Grace Church in Providence In Harmony: Collegium Ancora @ Pride 3000 Collegium Ancora plans to offer a free concert of choral music in conjunction with RI Pride 2019, featuring music by, for, and about LGBTQIA+ individuals and communities. Gray Horan Premier Staged Reading of "Coming Attraction" 1500 The event will include first staged reading of a powerful new play, "Coming Attraction" on January 28, 2019. Audience members will include identified special interest groups who will have an opportunity to participate in a "Talk Back" program to discuss and react to the play's resonate themes. Joey DeFrancesco La Neve Public Performances 805 Musician La Neve will complete a new forty minute set of live music and develop an accompanying expanded live performance to be presented three times in Rhode Island. La Neve is artist Joey La Neve DeFrancesco, guitarist and lead songwriter of internationally acclaimed Providence band Downtown Boys. Jose Maldonado Project 401 School Year Programming (Winter Session) 2500 Project 401 will execute it's year round Hip-Hop education programming initiative. A comprehensive after school program where youth are encouraged to express themselves creatively through the Hip-Hop elements ( Rapping, Bboying/Bgirling, Djing, and Graffiti), be introduced to and explore alternative healthy lifestyles, and develop a broader understanding of their ethnic identity. Karen Isenberg Family Music Classes at Community LIbraries 850 Karen Isenberg will conduct family music classes for children ages 0-5 years and their adults at Providence Community Library branches serving low-income communities. Participants will experience a diverse set of children's songs with a mix of tonal and rhythmic patterns. Kendall Reiss Seeking Level: Exploring Historic Tools from the Tim Bornstein Collection at Coggeshall Farm Museum 1000 In partnership with Coggeshall Farm Museum and Art Night Bristol/Warren, artist Kendall Reiss invites the Rhode Island community to a two-part artist talk and workshop. Participants will engage with objects from the Tim Bornstein collection of historic tools through programs focused on the progress and installation of a site-specific sculpture made from bronze casts of a mold in the collection. Marlon Carey Shakespeare to Hiphop 1800 Shakespeare to hiphop will perform a literary concert (2-3 times) in 2019 at the Bishop McVinney Auditorium on Shakespeare's recognized birthday, April 23. The concert will be "The Shakespeare Time-traveling Speakeasy" a highly acclaimed 55 minute musical and poetic multimedia presentation that introduces students to the world of Shakespeare and encourages further exploration. PC Galleries at Providence College On the Wall: Elizabeth Corkery 500 On the Wall: Elizabeth Corkery is the fifth installment of Providence College Galleries' (PC–G) On the Wall program, an annual artwork commission applied directly to the walls of the gallery. We will research the women who worked in the mill and compose songs for community choruses to sing in and around the buildings during a haunting performance dedicated to their unsung work. Elleanor Eldridge: RI's First Black Businesswoman 3000 Stages of Freedom will develop the "Memoirs of Elleanor Eldridge" about an 18th century Rhode Island woman of color with astonishing entrepreneurial & oratory skills, into a one-woman play. West Bay Chorale Tapestry- Woven in Harmony 2000 West Bay Chorale presents two multicultural performances in the spring of 2019. March brings a coffeehouse of global music, poetry, and dance by chorus members and professional artists.
