RISCA is pleased to announce the release of a new resource for Teaching Artists. A robust repository of Resources for Teaching Artists during Virtual/Distance Learning. This Google drive folder contains templates, models, research and guidance for all manner of teaching artists. Arranged by artistic discipline and pedagogical approach, the drive can be found here.
To compliment this drive, RISCA will be offering a series of 5 professional learning webinars for RI Teaching Artists and one informal “Coffee Hour” to share experiences with your peers. These webinars will be held throughout November 2020. Check RISCA’s Facebook page for individual event details.

This presentation, as the title suggests is to encourage Teaching Artists not to be scared off my the changes to education during the pandemic and to show participants three admins/coordinators that are still interested in working with artists for the good of their students.
3-5 PM: Analog to Digital: Teaching Artists During Distance Learning – An Introduction – https://zoom.us/j/98701151416
This presentation features teaching artists from a variety of disciplines. Moderated by Tavish Forsyth of Maryland, panelists will talk about how they moved their teaching artist work to be successful during distance learning. After 30 minutes of conversation, we’ll breakout into four smaller groups to dive deeper into specific challenges and methods. RI Teaching Artists on the panel include: Charlene Carpenzano. Ricky Katowicz and Kathleen Pletcher of Firstworks.

Join Mollie Flanagan and Maggie Anderson for a discussion about pricing your work and services for digital delivery. After a brief presentation, use this time to ask Mollie and Maggie questions and gather information to move forward with working “in-schools” during the pandemic.

CreativeGround is NEFA’s regional online directory of artists, cultural nonprofits, and creative businesses. Among many other dynamic features and functions, CreativeGround allows artists to display their designation as a vetted member of various New England State Arts Agency rosters. For example, Rhode Island’s Education Roster* can be found here.
3-5 PM: Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) Introductory Training.
Join certified VTS Trainer, Xenia Walker, from Providence Public Schools for an arts-based strategy that provides discussion facilitators with tools to promote collaborative dialogue and incre ase a sense of community. Participants will examine the environment and elements of VTS and leave the training with tools to manage open-ended image discussions.
